Crochet Trale Lewous from the "Skittles Song" (Bonus Vending Machine!)

Trale Lewous Doll!




 



It's finally time to share my pattern for a Trale Lewous Doll!!!  This video was the creation of Nathan Barnatt in which he plays Skittle's fan, Trale Lewous!  This pattern may be messy and has only been tested by me, so if anything is confusing, feel free to ask or help correct my pattern! I used all worsted weight yarn (you may use whatever you wish tho)  Feel free to use whatever colors you wish, I am just sharing the colors I used. If you want I can look up the specific yarns I used for each color; I just used yarn I had at home.

Colors:
White (Shirt Sleeves)
Peach (Skin)
Brown (Hair and Eyebrows)
Dark Brown (Eyes)
Orange (Shorts)
Red (Shoes/Shirt)
Light Pink (Lips)

Black (Vending Machine Windows)
Grey (Vending Machine Window Edges)
Rainbow Yarn (Vending Machine Top)
Red (Vending Machine Bottom)

Size F-5/3.75mm crochet hook
He came out about 6 1/2 inches tall for me, but that will all depend on how tight or loose you crochet 
Yarn Needle
Scissors
Polyfil for stuffing


Abbreviations:
ch = chain stitch
st = stitch
SC = single crochet
HDC = half double crochet
sc2tog = single crochet 2 stitches together (sc decrease)
HDC2tog = half double crochet 2 stitches together (hdc decrease)
DC = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch



Head

Rnd 1: In Peach, make a magic ring and work 5 SC in the ring, do not join, work as continuous rounds (We are starting at the top of his head)
Rnd 2: 2 SC in each stitch, repeat around (10 SC)
Rnd 3: SC in first st, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (15 SC)
Rnd 4: SC in next 2 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (20 SC)
Rnd 5: SC in next 3 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (25 SC)
Rnd 6: SC in next 4 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (30 SC)
Rnd 7: SC in next 5 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (35 SC)
Rnd 8: SC in next 6 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (40 SC)
Rnd 9: SC in next 7 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (45 SC)
Rnds 10-15: SC around (45) Around round 14ish is where I added in my eyes and eyebrows.  I left about 9 stitches in between the eyes.
Rnd 16: SC in next 22 sts, Bobble in the next st (*Yo and insert the hook into the st, pull up a look, yo, pull through 2 loops* repeat 4 more times, yo, pull through all loops on your hook), SC in next 22 sts. (45 sts)
Rnd 17: SC around (45)
Rnd 18: SC in next 7 sts, sc2tog, repeat around (40 SC)
Rnd 19: SC in next 6 sts, sc2tog, repeat around (35 SC)
Rnd 20: SC in next 5 sts, sc2tog, repeat around (30 SC) I embroidered my mouth around rows 19 and 20.
Rnd 21: SC in next 4 sts, sc2tog, repeat around (25 SC)
Rnd 22: SC in next 3 sts, sc2tog, repeat around (20 SC) Begin Stuffing head.
Rnd 23: SC in next 2 sts, sc2tog, repeat around (15 SC)
Rnd 24: SC in next st, sc2tog, repeat around (10 SC)
Rnd 25: Sc2tog around 5 sc (5 SC) Sew up your hole and hide remaining string.



Wig Cap
Rnd 1: In Brown, make a magic ring and work 5 SC in the ring, do not join, work as continuous rounds, use you stitch marker to mark the end of each rnd.
Rnd 2: 2 SC in each stitch, repeat around (10 SC)
Rnd 3: SC in next st, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (15 SC)
Rnd 4: SC in next 2 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (20 SC)
Rnd 5: SC in next 3 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (25 SC)
Rnd 6: SC in next 4 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (30 SC)
Rnd 7: SC in next 5 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (35 SC)
Row 8: SC in next 10 sts, turn (Working Rows for the hair to pop out on the sides)
Row 9: HDC2tog, HDC in next st, SC in next 17 sts, turn
Row 10: HDC2tog, HDC in next st, SC in next 7 sts.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail at the end for sewing onto the head. 






Torso

Rnd 1: In Orange make a magic ring and work 6 SC in the ring, do not join.  (We are beginning at the bottom of his torso)
Rnd 2: 2 SC in each st, repeat around (12 SC)
Rnd 3: SC in next st, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (18 SC)
Rnd 4: SC around (18 SC)
Rnd 5: SC around (18 SC)
Rnd 6: In Red, SC around (18 SC)
Rnd 7-8: SC around (18 SC)
Rnd 9: SC in the next 8 sts, change to Peach, SC in 1 st, In Red finish SC in last 9 sts (18 SC)
Rnd 10: SC in the next 8 sts, In Peach SC in the next 2 Sts, In Red finish SC in last 8 sts (18 SC)
Fasten Off.
In Red, join with a DCto the left of the 2 Peach stitches.  (Kind of crocheting upside-down to form his collar). HDC in the next st, SC in the next 12 sts, HDC in the next st, DC in the Last st.
Fasten Off.
Stuff your torso.
Using Peach yarn, attach your torso to your head.  I also added a tiny bit of white thread to make his shirt look like it had a pocket.



Arms (make 2)

Rnd 1: In Peach, make a magic ring and work 6 SC in the ring, do not join. (We are beginning at the bottom of the hand)
Rnd 2: Sc in the next st, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (9 SC)
Rnd 3: SC in the next st, Sc2tog, repeat around (6 SC)
Rnds 4-6: SC around (6 SC)
Rnd 7: In Red, SC around (6 SC)
Rnds 8-10: In White, SC around (6 SC)
Fasten off and leave a long enough tail to attach to your body.



Legs (make 2)

Rnd 1: In Red, make a magic ring and work 8 SC in the ring, do not join. (We are beginning the bottom of the foot)
Rnd 2: SC in the next st, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (12 SC)
Rnd 3: SC in the next 2 sts, 2 SC in next st, repeat around (16 SC)
Rnd 4: In Peach, SC in the next 2 sts, Sc2tog, repeat around (12 SC)
Rnd 5: SC in the next 4 sts, sc2tog, repeat around (10 SC)
Rnds 6-8: SC around (10 SC)
Rnds 9-10: SC around (10 SC)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for attaching your body.  I added a little white yarn for some shoe details.

I worked this as separate pieces and attached them all together at the end:



Bottom and Top Pieces (1 in Red, 1 in Rainbow Colored Yarn)

Ch 17
Row 1: SC in 2nd ch from hook and each st across, Turn, (16 SC)
Rows 2-8: Ch 1, SC across, Turn (16 SC)
Fasten off.



Front Piece:
In Red, Ch 17
Row 1: SC in 2nd ch from hook and each st across, Turn (16 SC)
Rows 2-6: Ch 1, SC across, Turn (16 SC)
Row 7: Ch 1, SC in next 12 Sts, In the Rainbow Color, SC in 4 sts, Turn (16 SC)
Row 8: Ch 1, SC in next 6 sts, In Red, SC in 10 Sts, Turn (16 SC)
Row 9: Ch 1, SC in next 8 sts, In Rainbow, SC in 8, Turn (16 SC)
Row 10: Ch 1, SC in the next 10 sts, In Red SC in 6, Turn (16 SC)
Row 11: Ch 1, SC in the next 4 sts, In Rainbow SC in the next 12, Turn (16 SC)
Row 12: Ch 1, SC in the next 14 sts, In Red, SC in the next 2, Turn (16 SC)
Row 13-20: In Rainbow, Ch 1, SC Across, Turn (16 SC)
Fasten off.



Back:
In Red, Ch 17
Row 1: SC in 2nd ch from hook and each st across, Turn (16 SC)
Rows 2-20: Ch 1, SC across, Turn (16 SC)
Fasten off.



Right Side:
In Red, Ch 9
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each st across, turn (8 SC)
Rows 2-6: Ch 1, SC across, Turn (8 SC)
Rows 7-20: In Rainbow, Ch 1, SC across, Turn (8 SC)
Fasten Off.



Left Side:
In Red, Ch 9
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each st across, turn (8 SC)
Rows 2-20: Ch 1, SC across, Turn (8 SC)
Fasten Off.



Large Window:
In Black, Ch 9
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each st across, turn (8 SC)
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, SC across, Turn (8 SC)

In Grey, SC around the edges.
Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew onto the Vending Machine.



Small Window:
In Black, Ch 9
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each st across, turn (8 SC)
Row 2: Ch 1, SC across, Turn (8 SC)
Fasten Off,
In Grey, SC around the edges.
Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew onto the Vending Machine.

Whip Stitch your vending machine together and stuff it to make it plushie!
